James Lowe, the lead singer of psychedelic rock outfit The Electrical Prunes, has died aged 82.
The musician’s household shared the information on social media Thursday (Might 22), writing that he had died “peacefully of pure causes” and was surrounded “by music” and his household.
“It’s with heavy and electrical hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad,” his kids, Lisa, Cameron and Skylar, wrote. “Dad leaves behind a legacy of sound, love, and boundless creativity. On the heart of all of it WaS our superb mother, Pamela – his guiding star, enduring muse, and spouse of 62 years.
“We all know how deeply he cherished this neighborhood, and we really feel that love too. In his phrases – Rock On! And we’ll.”
The psychedelic pioneer shaped The Electrical Prunes in Los Angeles within the mid-sixties, starting as a surf rock band named The Sanctions.
