Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, iCaur V23 safe 5-star ASEAN NCAP security ranking beneath outgoing 2021-2025 protocol


The Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV and iCaur V23, two SUVs beneath the Chery Group umbrella that have been launched in Malaysia in October and November respectively, have each secured a full five-star ASEAN NCAP security ranking. Each have been crash-tested on the China Automotive Engineering Analysis Institute (CAERI) in Chongqing final month.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV achieved the total 40 factors for adults, 17.18 out of 20 for youngsters, the total 20 factors for security help and 17.5 out of 20 for motorcyclists, leading to a 94.68-point whole rating, whereas the iCaur V23 managed 39.71 out of 40 factors for adults, 16.67 out of 20 for youngsters, 17.14 out of 20 for security help and 17.5 out of 20 for motorcyclists, yielding a 91.02-point whole rating.

Customary on each SUVs are seatbelt reminders for all seats, rear seat occupant detection, each metropolis and inter-urban AEB, blind spot detection, auto excessive beam, ISOFIX and youngster presence detection, along with a number of lane-related capabilities. The Tiggo 7 PHEV has eight airbags together with a knee and centre airbag, whereas the V23 has six.

Are these the final autos to be examined beneath the outgoing 2021-2025 protocol? Evaluation beneath the 2026–2030 protocol begins January – an expanded emphasis on ADAS is anticipated.
